Part 7

Dear author, I'm sorry for that incoherent review up top. I entered my account name and password in the field and the review suddenly just posted? What I was trying to express (poorly) is, how amazed I was by Mebuki's 6th sense and unconditional support for her daughter (especially given the era they are in). It was so fucking satisfying to read, because a big part of what I wondered after reading part 6 was: how is Sakura going to hide that injury to her wrist, especially while working in her parents' shop? I know fabrics can get heavy, they're bound to notice that something is wrong, right? And if they do... what fresh hell will that unleash?? Mebuki's discretion was unexpected. I thought she'd chop off Kizashi's head and demand that he force his friend Tajima to DO something about this or "right the wrong" somehow. Reading how she handled Madara's sudden visit to the store and the degree of agency she gave her 15 year old daughter here was fascinating. But it was believable to me, and in retrospect - I think I understand Mebuki here. And I think it's because of the foundation that was laid in the story from the first installment: Sakura's character, her close relationship with her parents, learning that they really know and are genuinely invested in their daughter, and of course - all those details about young Madara. About the letters and gifts he sent while he was abroad, and even now. Knowing how much Sakura valued and looked forward to his letters and gifts, so much that she read them as much as she did her romance novels... so yes, I get it. Given the reciprocity of affection between these kids, and knowing Madara's devotion despite their age - I think I get where Mebuki is coming from.

And MADARA!! I appreciate how clearly he understands how horribly he botched their first encounter, and how invested he is in not squandering any more opportunities with Sakura. I can't wait to see how their relationship progresses now that they've established this mutual attraction to one another! This was such a fun read, and as always - thank you for writing and sharing another fantastic installment with us. Happy New Year!!
